NOTE: For any of you media makers, the most important part of this post may be the submission info at the bottom.
SO…
A few months ago, I curated a project called CAULDRON. It was a publicly exhibited video installation in downtown Ogden, and I talked about it in this Substack.
Since then, I have decided to use the same name for a new project, and it’s not a little one.
Some of you know that from 2003-2014 I co-curated a touring festival called the Free Form Film Festival (story of this fest coming in a future post). I have decided to go back to my roots and create a new festival, but this one is based in Salt Lake City and will become an annual event. In the past, there have been some interesting fests (I’m not including Sundance here*) and series based in SLC (there was a fantastic foundation called the Utah Film and Video Center that closed in the early two-thousands, that one was my favorite. Maybe I should write a post about that sometime too!), but lately, there has really been no serious outlet for genre-crossing motion pictures existing in the space between Colorado and California. Nothing I know of.
It’s my aim to change that. I have big shoes to fill. So, for a little while, this is going to be the main thing I talk about on here.
MUCH MORE INFO TO COME.

OK. I DO hope that if you are a film/video maker, you’ll submit to this! We want entries of all genres from literally everywhere.

*Sundance being the kind of event that essentially descends from space once a year leaving very few non-monetary examples of lasting local impact. It’s not for local people.
Fantastic!!!
