First of all:
It’s been maybe 15 years since I recorded any music. I felt like I should get back into it. Using my old project name, ADD OIL, I made this single.
It’s a mashup constructed around a recording of Norman Finkelstein. I strongly feel that his description of what is going on with the recent Houthi attacks needs to underscore the news stories we are seeing. I’ll bet you’ve all heard about the Trump administration’s ham-fisted military operations (and their inability to use basic security protocols), but there isn’t much legacy media coverage of why the Houthis are doing what they are doing in the first place. Wanna end Houthi attacks? Defund Israel. Bombing Yemen will only increase the antagonism.
I often create art that is an amalgam of whatever is flowing through me. So this track is not only “in the moment” politically, but contains source material from some artists that have been in my head lately. See if you can find the Steely Dan, Thin Lizzy, Harry Pussy, Glenn Branca, or James Blood Ulmer bits in the noise-mix. John Mearsheimer also makes an appearance at the beginning of the track.
Secondly:
As you all know, I run the CAULDRON INTERNATIONAL FILM AND VIDEO FESTIVAL. Our second annual event will occur this year in October. We are hoping to feature important films and videos that are made in support of the Palestinian people during this time of outright genocide at the hand of zionists. I really don’t know how many people will download my new track for three dollars, but I can promise that however much I make from this will go into the fundraising account to curate some hard-hitting Palestine content for the festival. I should also mention that all of my paid Substack subscriptions also go towards funding the festival in general. I don’t have a ton of subscribers at this point, so please, if you like the idea of the festival, think about a paid subscription to this content!
Thank you all for clicking on this post, and for checking out HOUTHI STRIKE! I have not posted much lately, but I finally have a bunch of projects in progress and can’t wait to share them. More coming!
